An upcoming film based on the 2009 David Grann’s book The Lost City Of Z: A Tale Of Deadly Obsession In The Amazon. Pitt stars in the film and is scheduled to produce it as well. The story is about an explorer’s search for a British Colonel who disappeared trying to find a legendary City of Z during the 1920s.

In 1925 the legendary British explorer Percy Harrison Fawcett (Wikipedia) (Brad Pitt) ventured into the Amazon determined to make one of the most important discoveries in history. Colonel Percy Fawcett spent most of his non-military career mapping previously unknown regions. He was searching for an ancient civilization, which he had named, the City of Z.

Colonel Fawcett disappeared with his son in the Amazon in 1925. For decades, explorers and scientists have tried to find evidence of his party and the Lost City of Z. Perhaps as many as 100 people perished or disappeared searching for Fawcett over the years.

David Grann made his own journey into the Amazon, revealing new evidence about how Fawcett died and showing that Z may have really existed right under his feet. The book was chosen by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company and Paramount Pictures for a 2010 movie.
